Karen Miller was born in Denmark and moved to Brixham South Devon when she was young with her British parents. When there was an opportunity Karen spent most of her time on the beach as she does with now with her young daughter Robyn. When leaving school Karen moved up to London to gain some retail experience and to spend time visiting the galleries and great sites for inspiration, little did she now that her inspiration was always in front of her at home. A few years later Karen studied Interior Design but soon decided that she would rather make something than draw so she moved on to her next passion and trained as an Architectural Model maker and went back to London to work.
In 2000 Karen moved home, decided to base herself in Brixham permanently and brought a house close to the beach. Whilst working in a designer interiors store in Dartmouth Karen made a Driftwood tree to use as part of a Christmas window display, there was such a wonderful response from the public that she made smaller ones to sell and this is how it all began. The following year her daughter was born and Karen changed employment to be a part-time visual merchandiser in a reputable independent designer store in Torquay.
This gave Karen the chance to spend more time at home to be a mum and to start making new creations and explore the world of Driftwood. Working full-time from home now Karen employees people all over the work to collect her Driftwood and has a unique portfolio of Wall Sculpture and Home Accessories which includes the Original Driftwood Hearts, Encapsulating mirrors, Sculptured Lamps, Butterflies, swordfishes and many more original designs. |
